When the seasons change, sometimes I get restless with my space. When it’s starting to get cool, I want cozy and warm. When it starts to get warm, I want spacious and breezy. Since I can’t afford to overhaul every room every season, I’ve found some reasonable ways to update a space without having to completely overhaul things we’ve invested in. I also have several pieces in my home that I’m emotionally attached to, and I make things work around those.

Here is a list of affordable home updates that can really change the feel of a space.

Plants

I’ve just recently noticed the huge impact having greenery can have on a space. We have a mixture of faux and real. I prefer low maintenance when it comes to plants.

Front Door

Another affordable update is to paint your front door. I’ve done this a few times now, and I’m always satisfied with the results. It’s minimal work with a lot of visual payoff. I’ve painted ours black, orchid, green, and now I’m considering a curry-gold shade.

Throw Pillows

Throw pillows are an effortless update. I like having them around because they create a nice coziness. They can also change the feel of a room or add festiveness for a holiday. I’ve even considered making some of my own pillow covers when what I’ve wanted has been really pricey.

Lampshades Throwing on a new lampshade also provides new vibes. Adding some pillows and a new lampshade updates a room without breaking the bank.
