White Christmas is one of the Christmas movies for my family. I watched it every year growing up, my dad and I danced to The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing at my wedding, and now my oldest loves it, too. The costumes, the dancing, the music, everything just captivates me. And everytime I watch, I study Vera Ellen’s costumes. Edith Head designed the costumes, and, of course, she did an amazing job. They are beautiful and timeless. Here are my favorites and how you can find inspiration in today’s styles.

Classic Colors, Patterns, and Lines

This black, white, and red outfit is so classic. She looks just like a Barbie doll. I love the mid a-line skirt paired with a turtleneck. No other outfit makes me feel more myself than a skirt and turtleneck combo.

Express offers turtlenecks and skirts very similar. This red belt can be found at Nordstrom.

Colorful Combo

Chartreuse and leopard is such a fun pairing; I think it especially looks beautiful on blondes. It’s unique but still classic.

Banana Republic always has beautiful blouses and accessories, and the cute tee can be found at Express.

Holiday Pink

Pink is such a fun color. Her two pink costumes are my favorites. The dress is so beautiful, and it has a fun pop of hot pink in the skirt. I also love how flirty and fun her hot pink dance number is.

ASOS always has a wide variety of holiday dresses. The hot pink pops are from Banana Republic, and the pale blouse is from Express.

Winter White

I love all white this time of year. Mixed with sparkles is perfect for Christmas. In high school, after watching this movie, I wore stacks of bracelets for years.

The skirt and turtleneck is from Express. These bracelets are pricey, but searching your jewelry collection (or mom’s or grandma’s) might be a more affordable option!
